Baby Kidnapper Arraigned


A 31-year-old man, Victor Joshua, appeared before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate's Court, Lagos, for attempting to kidnap baby twins.

The police said in the charge against the accused person that he conspired with others now at large to commit the alleged crime on September 12, 2011 in Ikorodu area of the state.

The charge reads in parts,   "That you, Joshua, at the said time and place unlawfully attempted to kidnap the twin children of Mr.  Badmus Taoheed, in order to deny their parents access to them and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 365 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 Vol. II, Laws of Lagos State, 2003."

Joshua pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Chief Magistrate Christiana Adesola-Ikpatt, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. She also ordered that the sureties must present proof of tax clearance and means of livelihood. The case was adjourned for further hearing.
